20–30 minutesYour dentist examines the tooth, assesses your symptoms and takes X-rays to evaluate the extent of the infection and the anatomy of the root canals. A treatment plan is discussed and your consent is obtained.

Access & Pulp Removal
Included in treatmentA small opening is made through the crown of the tooth to access the root canal system. The infected or inflamed pulp tissue is gently removed using fine specialist instruments.
Canal Cleaning & Shaping
45–90 minutesThe root canals are carefully cleaned, shaped and disinfected using rotary endodontic files and antimicrobial irrigants. This step is critical to removing all bacteria and infected tissue.
Canal Sealing
Included in treatmentOnce cleaned and shaped, the canals are filled and sealed with a biocompatible material called gutta-percha to prevent future bacterial entry. A temporary or permanent filling is placed above.
Restoration (Crown or Filling)
